Staying Connected For Your Safety
WHAT IS BUILDING AUTOMATION?
Building Automation is the automatic networked control of a buildings internal systems. Generally, building automation begins with control of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. For instance, the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system is almost always controlled, including control of its various pieces of equipment such as:
- Chillers
- Boilers
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Roof-top Units (RTUs)
- Fan Coil Units (FCUs)
- Heat Pump Units (HPUs)
- Variable Air Volume boxes (VAVs)
Other systems that are often controlled and/or brought under a complete building automation system include:
- Power monitoring
- Security
- Close circuit video (CCTV)
- Card and keypad access
- Elevators/escalators
- Plumbing and water monitoring
WHY BAS IS THE FUTURE
The BAS includes programs for controls that switch pumps and compressors from operating equipment to stand-by on a scheduled basis. Programs that provide maintenance schedules for equipment in every building system can provide complete information on what parts and tools are needed to perform routine maintenance.
Building Automation System (BAS) monitor energy usage of electric, gas, water, steam, hot water, chilled water, and fuel oil services.
HIGHLIGHTS OF BAS
- Optimizing overall building performance
- Reducing total energy costs
- Creating occupancy comfort
REX has uniquely positioned itself, to support the entire gamut of installing building automation systems, by creating efficiencies in the design phases with proper coordination on the installations. |
